‘Red Dawn’ scenario is kid’s play compared with this scenario

North Korea now has an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the United States, as demonstrated by their successful launch and orbiting of a satellite on Dec. 12, the Washington Times reports.

In fact, the Times report says, “North Korea is a mortal nuclear threat to the United States – right now.”

It’s not just the threat of conventional nuclear attack that has experts worried. Nor is the North Korea invasion scenario in the new remake of “Red Dawn” a realistic risk.

The real concern is that North Korea now has miniaturized nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery and armed missiles with nuclear warheads that could destroy the U.S. in a single blow with an EMP attack that would send the U.S. back to 19th century technology a la the NBC TV show “Revolution.”

And North Korea is hardly the only threat to destroy what some other nations and rogue players call “the Great Satan.”

Imagine if all the lights in America went off – never to come back on again.

Imagine if all the computers in America got fried – never to come back on again.

Imagine if all the cars in America dependent on fancy circuitry wouldn’t start – ever again.

Imagine if the grocery stores and the gas stations had to close up – for good.

Editor’s note: Michael Maloof, author of “A Nation Forsaken,” will discuss the catastrophic threat posed by an EMP attack for three hours on George Noory’s “Coast-to-Coast” Thursday night, Jan. 3, the day the book is officially released nationwide.

That’s the kind of scenario an EMP attack can cause. The scenarios suggest massive starvation, lawlessness and chaos beyond anything Americans can imagine.

Thankfully, a new book is blowing the whistle on U.S. vulnerability to such a cataclysmic catastrophe.

It’s called “A Nation Forsaken” by defense expert Michael Maloof, a senior staff writer for WND.

Scientists and other experts have warned for years that the nation’s electrical grid system, together with other critical infrastructures that have an almost complete dependency on electricity and electronic components, are highly vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse event, either from natural or man-made causes.

However, Congress and the administrations of previous and current presidents largely have ignored those warnings.

Events such as the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States, then the devastating Hurricane Katrina and more recently Hurricane Sandy revealed vulnerabilities to those infrastructures, for a time heightened that concern.

Nevertheless, none of this was enough to awaken policymakers who seem more preoccupied with making you less safe by restricting your ability to get firearms.

Make no mistake about it: An EMP attack poses the biggest threat to U.S. national and economic security in our lifetime.

An electromagnetic pulse attack on our critical infrastructures, either from an impending solar storm of serious intensity expected between 2012 and 2014 or from a high-altitude nuclear explosion, could have long-term catastrophic consequences for our society and our way of life.

A few years ago, a congressional commission went into considerable depth on those consequences to our electricity-dependent infrastructures that include not only the power grid itself but also telecommunications, our banking and finance system, our transportation system that delivers the very food and water on which our society depends on a daily basis, and the fuel needed to keep our houses warm in the winter and air-conditioned during the summer.

While these critical infrastructures continue to face such an impending crisis, Congress basically has ignored its own commission report and instead has treated the threat of an electromagnetic pulse event as a political football to be weighed against the need to establish an antiballistic missile system. Out of the debate, nothing has happened in either direction.

“A Nation Forsaken” breaks down that threat. It even outlines how our own military similarly is vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse event due to its 99-percent dependency on the nation’s electrical grid system for electricity and communications, raising the high prospect that it may not be able to function to defend the nation in its time of greatest need.

While an electromagnetic pulse event on our civilian infrastructure could be serious, it can be managed if government at the federal, state and local levels gives a high priority to undertaking preventative action to lessen its impact and enhance our ability to recover from it. Given what seems to be a perpetual gridlock in Congress, however, don’t count on it – at least not without the kind of public outcry only a book like this can prompt.

It’s time to learn about the worst threat Americans face – something far more calamitous than an economic crash.

WASHINGTON D.C.—North Korea’s threat to attack specific targets in Hawaii and the continental United States has some United States officials worried that the communist nation will use its “space launch vehicle” to launch a nuclear weapon high overhead the U.S. mainland and explode it, creating a high-altitude EMP effect which could take down most of the U.S. power grid.

North Korean Nuclear Threat

Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s 28-year-old leader, has his strategic rocket forces on standby to fire at U.S. targets and he has specifically named Hawaii, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Austin, Texas in his strike plan.

The brash leader declared the U.S.’s decision to send two B-2 stealth bombers to participate in U.S.-South Korean military readiness exercises a “reckless and hostile act.” He said the inclusion of the bombers in the exercise showed Washington’s hostile intent.

According to a statement by the North Korean news agency, KCNA, “[Kim Jong-un] finally signed the plan on technical preparations of strategic rockets, ordering them to be on standby to fire so that they may strike any time the U.S. mainland, its military bases in the operational theaters in the Pacific, including Hawaii and Guam, and those in South Korea.”

Secretary of State Chuck Hagel has condemned North Korea’s decision to abandon the 1953 armistice between North and South Korea and putting it’s forces on high alert with threats of nuclear attack against the U.S. The North Koreans have also put out three videos in recent weeks detailing nuclear strikes on U.S. targets. And while there are some Aegis anti-missile systems deployed along the West Coat, Hagel has ordered additional systems put in place. They will not be operational until 2017, however.

U.S. officials are convinced that North Korea was successful in recent tests of a missile with a miniature nuclear weapon attached. Should the Koreans use a polar trajectory for its missile launch, it would be out of the reach of U.S. anti-missile systems and would place the entire U.S. infrastructure of communications, energy, food and water, and space delivery systems at risk.

A little-known U.S. Army War College study has concluded that a nuclear detonation above a U.S. city could destroy the electrical grid for hundreds, and possibly thousands, of miles around. People like former presidential candidate and House Speaker Newt Gingrich have been warning about this possibility for years, but the government has made little effort to harden the United States’ electrical infrastructure or those systems that depend on it against any sort of threat.

In analyzing North Korea’s long-range missile sites, officials are seeing increased activity. One South Korean official stated, “North Korea’s launch sites to fire off mid- and long-range missiles have recently shown increased movement of vehicles and forces. We are closely watching possibilities of missile launches.”

Makes perfect sense! A small communist country with minimal nuclear capability finds our weak spot and takes advantage while we are reducing our Military. They would be world heroes. The US, in one generation, goes from (arguably) the most powerful nation to a third-world dictatorship with the help of their own leaders (Congress) not believing that they themselves will submit to the dictator authority. It sounds like a plan of the leaders of the one world government/religion. People, we are but moments away this as a reality. Be prepared to accept a mark on your hand or forehead in order to buy or sell! (There is a reason for the billions of hollow point bullets and thousands of guillotines, foreign troops and military vehicles on our soil!) Or, you could just believe what the Bible says and not be here when it happens!…very soon!
